HEALTHCARE

At St. Catherine's we take a holistic approach to health with an emphasis placed upon the development of a healthy lifestyle as opposed to focusing just upon health problems.

Each young woman will be registered with a local GP. St. Catherine's also contract the services of a part-time Nurse via St. Helens Primary Care Trust.

A health assessment is carried out by the on-site Nurse and a healthcare plan is drawn up in order to meet the young woman's needs and record details of input. This is monitored by the on-site Nurse and Key Worker and the young woman is provided with a copy of the health plan.

In the case of pregnant young women, appropriate ante-natal and post-natal care is accessed and overseen by the site Nurse.

Dental and ophthalmic appointments are made as appropriate.

St. Catherine's have a contract with the 5 Boroughs Partnership NHS Trust. The Community Homes Health Team (CHHT) provides St. Catherine's with an extensive range of health services, including assessment, intervention and a transfer package for each Young Person, with reports at each stage.
